A Trauma & Resiliency Prison Educators RetreatCerro Coso Community College in collaboration with Bakersfield College, Corrections to College California and NYU's McSilver Institute, are hosting a Trauma-Informed and Resiliency Community of Practice wrap-up and wellness retreat for educators providing face-to-face college programs within California prisons and jails.
This event is open to all educators and administrators in the field, including those without prior experience in the Sustaining Future's Community of Practice network. This professional development opportunity is for educators and administrators providing face-to-face college programs for incarcerated students.
This event will deliver professional development through a multi-day retreat focused on establishing employee wellness, trauma responsive programming and teaching practices from leading industry experts. The goal of this professional development structure will promote collaboration and best practices for student equity and success by guiding instructors and administrators in an equitable understanding of the incarcerated student, contextual course design, classroom management, disability services, and andragogical implementation. |
